NEW YORK –The New York Rangers scored on four of their first 12 shots Thursday night at Madison Square Garden, so the Penguins responded with a couple of perfectly logical moves.

Jordon Staal scored a power-play goal 3:42 into overtime on Pittsburgh’s 55th shot at Henrik Lundqvist, and the Penguins outlasted the New York Rangers 5-4 on Thursday night.

In the three games that New York Rangers’ superstar Marian Gaborik has been out, the team has scored 12 goals in the combined three wins. For the team and its fans, it has been a sight for sore eyes as the team has generally struggled to put the puck in the net this season. However, in the team’s three straight wins over the Pittsburgh Penguins, Tampa Bay Lightning and Ottawa Senators, the team has been able to produce and has received solid production from guys such as Erik Christensen, Sean Avery, Olli Jokinen, Ryan Callahan and Vinny Prospal.
